Top 5: House of Aphrodite

June 23, 2015
House of Aphrodite

House of Aphrodite is a new (well, not so new) multi-brand boutique that popped up in Lahore last year. Offering an array of western wear from international high street brands, HoA has instantly created a niche for itself in the city.

Along with its western-wear from the likes of Topshop, Karen Millen and more, the store also carries Sumbal Hammad’s Mumtaz Jahan line, which is a range of semi-formal and formal eastern wear designed by the creative director of HoA. I was invited to HoA to chat with the team behind the brand and have a look through the store. Here are my Top 5 picks:House-of-Aphrodite-Lahore-Top-5

From top left: [1] A small crossbody bag in a jewel tone and embellished with studs is a great way to make a statement with either a bright lawn shalwar kameez or a simple tee with jeans. [2] Chunky chain necklaces remain a staple in my wardrobe, I always reach for a thick silver chain to accessorise anything and everything. This one has an extra edge with blue weave and rhinestones. [3] Topshop is fool-proof, and this floral blazer with it’s pale pink hue and flattering cut is a perfect example why. [4] There aren’t many places to buy Michael Kors bags in Pakistan, and HoA is one of those places. The boutique bought a capsule collection for this season, and many pieces are still in stock. [5] Have you ever met a girl that didn’t love shoes? These punchy platform heels are affordable and so gorgeous. The heel is the perfect height and so is the platform.

Top 5: L’Atelier Lahore

June 21, 2015
l'atelier-lahore1

Multi-brand stores remain my favourite places to shop in Pakistan. I mean – it’s a winning formula. Who doesn’t want endless options under one roof? Monobrand boutiques have their own charm, but with time constraints, traffic and weather all bearing down on you it is just easier to hit up a one-stop shop. And that is exactly what L’Atelier is.

laterlier-lahore-1

Located on MM Alam Road in Lahore, L’Atelier offers everything from cotton pret suits, semi-formals and heavy-hitting formals from some of the country’s best.

latelier-lahore-3During my time in Lahore earlier this month, I had the chance to visit L’Atelier and pick out my Top 5 items from their latest drop.

1. Sania Maskatiya
l'atelier-sania-maskatiya-02

Sania Maskatiya has long been one of my favourite designers out of Pakistan. Her aesthetic is interesting and fresh and fashion forward. This ensemble is a little unexpected and simpler than what we are used to seeing from the brand and that’s what caught my eye. I love the fresh sherbet colours, intricate lace and gold block-print. This is the perfect outfit for a formal summer soiree.

2. 9Lines

9ninelines-latelier9Lines is all about fun and quirkiness. Known for its accessories, the brand recently ventured into apparel and this lip print kurta is a great take on a huge international trend.  And the best thing? It’s super affordable.

3. Pershe by Kauser Humayun

pershe-kausar-humayun-l'atelierA white kurta with bright ethnic embroidery has to be my favourite thing in the world, so when I saw this Pershe kurta I could hardly contain my excitement.  It is a piece everyone needs in their summer wardrobe.

4. Tena Durrani

Tena Durrani has steadily made a name for herself in bridals over the last 2 years. This mint green and bronze gown with velvet details can be paired with a lehnga for a bridal look or trousers for a more formal take.

5. Mohsin Naveed Ranjha

l'atelier-mohsin-n-rI must say I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I actually hadn’t heard of Mohsin Naveed Ranjha until my most recent trip to Lahore. And can I just say, his stuff is AH-mazing. The colour combination is nothing new, neither is the technique. But it all just looks so beautiful. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, amirite?
