Makeup remains my first true love, there is nothing I love more than literally painting my face. My #3 favourite makeup item (after eyeliner and highlighters) has to be lipstick. With the weather getting hotter and Iftaris and summer soirees in full swing, why not try some new lip colours?
My basic lipstick colours tend to change with the seasons and in the summer I gravitate towards sherbets, pastels and peachy coral tones. I find corals work best with my skin tone (tan, South Asian) and hair colour. Here are my three staples for this year.
Left to Right: MAC Saint Germain, Sushi Kiss and Costa Chic. I have to admit I am a shameless MAC addict. The colour range is unreal, the staying power is great and the price is just right. I find all of these colours just wake up your face and refresh your whole look, especially if you have a bit of a tan. Saint Germain is a milky pastel pink which is really really hard to pull off. I have to admit I kind of jumped on the bandwagon when I bought this colour, and it looks SO pretty in the tube (that is really reason enough for me to buy a lipstick) that I couldn’t resist. My trick is to layer Saint Germain with Honey Love to neutralise the milkiness of the shade. Sushi Kiss is my second favourite, this lipstick is the perfect popsicle orange shade. It has a touch of coral and the creamy consistency is ah-maze. Costa Chic is universally flattering and one lipstick that you need to have in your arsenal. The pink-toned coral is gorgeous and opaque. On work days when I don’t want my lips to be too bright, I also layer Sushi Kiss and Costa Chic with Honey Love for a toned down look.
